QSC has announced a Q-SYS plugin that allows users to discover and control Christie Series 2 digital cinema projectors within the QSC Ecosystem. The new plugin enables automated functionality within Q-SYS. The plugin mirrors what is displayed on the projector touch panel, including channel, power, lamp, douser, test pattern, and lens adjustments, along with key status indicators.

Movio, Geena Davis Institute Release Diversity in Film White Paper

The New Zealand film industry data analytics company Movio and the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media at Mount Saint Mary’s Institue have teamed up to determine if what and who is presented on cinema screens affects who shows up for a film during its theatrical run. Data scientists at both organizations examined the following questions for a white paper entitled I Want to See Me: Why Diverse On-Screen Representation Drives Cinema Audiences.

Abramorama, Giant Pictures Announce Multi-Year Partnership

Abramorama today announced Abramorama Selects, a new imprint to handle global digital distribution and marketing for non-fiction feature films and television series. As a part of the newly expanded services offered by Abramorama, the company has entered into a multi-year agreement with Giant Pictures to be their preferred partner. The first film to be released under Abramorama Selects is the feature length documentary Herb Alpert Is… about the legendary musician and music industry titan.

Barco Ahead of Schedule in Reducing its Carbon Footprint

In 2016, Barco set a number of very ambitious five-year sustainability goals, to be established by 2020. These were reducing the carbon footprint of its operations by 20 percent, reducing the energy footprint of its products by 25 percent, and ensuring that at least 25 percent of new product releases would qualify for ecoscoring as defined in the ISO 14021 standard. And now, the company has announced that the first of these goals has already been reached in fiscal year 2019: one year in advance.

Dolby and Megabox Announce Five-Year Deal

Dolby Laboratories and MegaboxJoongAng (Megabox) today announced a five-year agreement to equip Megabox theaters in Korea with Dolby technologies. With this deal, Megabox will deploy Dolby’s Auditorium Packages, including servers, processors, speakers, and amplifiers, to Megabox Anseong Starfield and Namyangju Hyundai Premium Outlets Space One, making it the first case of Dolby’s Auditorium Packages being installed in all 5.1/7.1 channel screens within a single multiplex.

Laika Names Park Circus to be Repertory Sales Representative

Award-winning animation studio Laika has named Park Circus to be the repertory sales representative for the studio’s award-winning library of legacy films. The BAFTA and Golden Globe-winning Laika is best known for its five Oscar-nominated films:  Missing Link (2019); Kubo and the Two Strings (2016); The Boxtrolls (2014); ParaNorman (2012), and Coraline (2009). The agreement covers most international territories in addition to the United States and Canada.
