The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, known for the Oscars, has bestowed the Barco team with the Scientific and Engineering Academy Award for their contribution to the design and development of laser projection in cinema. The Academy’s Scientific and Technical Awards honor individuals and companies whose discoveries and innovations have contributed in significant and lasting ways to motion pictures.
Christie’s principal product developer, Mike Perkins, has been awarded the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Award in Scientific and Engineering, along with three other recipients, for his work on the design and development of the Christie E3LH projection system, developed in partnership with Dolby Laboratories. Scene Cinemas has opened an Imax with Laser theatre in Cairo, Egypt.
Cinionic, a Barco company and global leader in laser cinema, announced today that has teamed up with Sony Marketing to bring laser projection to the cinema market in Japan. The companies are enabling the transition to laser with Barco Series 4 projectors in a cumulative total of 232 screens at Toho Cinemas, with the installation of 85 units by the end of February 2024.

PVR Inox has opened Maison Inox at the Jio World Plaza in Jio World Centre, Bandra Kurla Complex. The new property is the second Maison cinema in Mumbai.
Christie will showcase its full range of digital cinema technology for all screen sizes at CineAsia 2023, which takes place at True Icon Hall in Bangkok, Thailand from December 4-7. Christie is the official projection partner for the show. There Christie will demonstrate its CP4435 pure laser cinema projectors and Christie Vive Audio.
