Cinemeccanica and IMG Cinemas Multiplex have introduced what the companies are calling the first immersive cinema in the world. Located in Venezia Mestre, Italy, the theatre opened last week.

Immersive cinema identifies a type of cinema in which the spectator is totally surrounded and caught by images and sounds and receives sight and sound incitements in a completely new modality different from usual cinemas. The theatre will feature a Cinecloud Lux laser driven projector and Dolby Atmos sound.

Pier Carlo Ottoni, sales and marketing director of Cinemeccanica says, “To be the first to start the immersive cinema age, introducing laser driven projection and multidimensional sound in a unique auditorium, makes us proud for the constant capacity to innovate and also because the first cinema of this type will be in Italy.”
