Ziva Dynamics has won the Monolith Award for Technology for its flagship simulation software, Ziva VFX. The annual award is presented to the achievement that represents “the most outstanding innovations in technology" across the media and entertainment industry. It was presented live to Ziva Dynamics on November 9 at the Infinity Festival in Hollywood.

Ziva Dynamics has won the Monolith Award for Technology for its flagship simulation software, Ziva VFX.The Ziva method, used by major studios including Sony Pictures Imageworks, Pixomondo and Mr. X, radically improves the character creation process by combining real-world physics with the rapid simulation of soft-tissue materials like muscles, fat and skin. By mirroring the fundamental properties of anatomy and nature, users can produce CG characters that move, flex and jiggle just as they would in real life, removing difficult steps and guesswork from the creature rigging process.

The Monolith Award for Technology is voted on by a board of entertainment and software industry professionals, including representatives from Universal Pictures, Warner Bros., Microsoft, Adobe and Digital Domain. Over 25 judges participated in the selection process, choosing Ziva VFX as the chief example of technology “that is changing the ways in which people are sharing stories around the world.”

“Ziva VFX has always been a ‘for artists, by artists’ kind of product,” said James Jacobs, co-founder & CEO of Ziva Dynamics. “So it’s thrilling and humbling to be recognized by the very developers, storytellers and creators that are leading this space and setting the precedent for great work. The Ziva team has worked tooth and nail to make a tool that can help artists of all levels, from Hollywood to the classroom, and we’re so proud to see that effort being appreciated and recognized by our peers.”

Ziva VFX has been used by more thanr 200 studios and academic institutions around the world, on projects like Game of ThronesThe MegHellboyPacific RimCrazy Alien and A Dog’s Way Home.
