Breakthrough on Journey 2
The USC Institute for Creative Technologies, Icon Imaging Studio, Lightstage and House of Moves collaboratively pioneered a new process to create digital doubles for the recently released Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. The mysterious island is a place few people have ever seen. It's a place of stunning beauty, strange and threatening life forms, volcanoes, mountains of gold and more than one astonishing secret. To capture the full extent of the fantastical action, digital doubles were created for the film's main actors: Dwayne Johnson, Michael Caine, Josh Hutcherson, Vanessa Hudgens and Luis Guzman. Perspectives of War
A fictionalized account of real life Navy SEAL operations, Act of Valor, in theatres nationwide, tells the story of daring covert operations and delivers a thrilling mix of stealthy tension, intense human drama, and sudden fierce combat waged by lethal heroes armed with the world’s best training and firepower. Act of Valor is a Bandito Brothers film produced and directed by Mike McCoy and Scott Waugh and written by Kurt Johnstad. Crucial to capturing the film’s absorbing action was its use of Canon EOS 5D Mark II Digital SLR cameras. As director of photography, and now member of Canon’s Explorer of Light program, Shane Hurlbut says the film could not have been made with any other camera system. Coming Soon

VW Scheich's new short film about Karl Wallenda's first high wire performance has just been accepted at the Academy-Award qualifying Cleveland International Film Festival. Scheich knew that his short film Wallenda – now on the festival circuit – was an ambitious project from the beginning, since it was going to be shot against a green screen, and all of its distinctive backgrounds – a German tavern, circus tent and an opera house – were to be created in post using computer graphics.
