Wanda Pictures and Dolby Laboratories today announced that Wanda Pictures’ feature For A Few Bullets will be released for Dolby Cinema locations in China on July 15, making it the first Chinese local language movie mastered in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.
Wanda Cinema will open Dolby Cinema theatres in Asia in Dalian, Changchun, Chongqing, and Jinan, it was announced today. “We are transforming the movie experience in China with Wanda,” said Doug Darrow, senior vice president, cinema business group, Dolby Laboratories. “With powerful image and sound technologies and unique design, Dolby Cinema is one of the best places to see a movie. We look forward to captivating audiences in China who seek the very best quality in entertainment and to bringing Dolby Cinema to more cities with Wanda Cinema Line.”
Disney’s The Jungle Book is the first film released in the U.S. in Dolby Vision 3D and is available at two Dolby Cinema at AMC Prime locations: Empire 25 in New York City and Hawthorn in Chicago. Jackie Chan Cinema and Dolby Laboratories today announced that the premium Dolby Cinema experience is coming to the top-grossing movie site in China, Jackie Chan Cinema’s Beijing Wukesong. The cinema site topped China’s box office and attendance rankings from 2011 to 2015. In 2014, it was the only cinema to achieve a box office gross of RMB 100 million in China.

Disney, Lionsgate, and Twentieth Century Fox will release four live-action and animated feature films for Dolby Cinema around the world. In the coming months five studios will release major feature films in Dolby Cinema, Dolby announced today. They include Sony Pictures’ Pixels, in theatres July 24; Paramount Pictures’ Mission: Impossible—Rogue Nation, in theatres July 31; Universal Pictures’ Everest, in theatres this September, and Lionsgate Entertainment’s The Hunger Games: Mockingjay—Part 2, in theatres this November. They join titles soon to be announced by Twentieth Century Fox.
