Modernizing the Moscow Planetarium

Global Immersion has been awarded the contract by the Moscow Planetarium to design and integrate six digital displays into three theatres throughout the facility. The theatres are a key part of the large-scale modernization and expansion, and are scheduled for completion in December 2010 when the building will reopen to the public.

Its designers, Visual Acuity, are making the claim that the dome theatre at the Norrköping Visualization Center is the most modern and technically advanced visualization space in Europe. Patrons will be the ultimate judges of that but one thing is certain: when His Majesty the King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden opened the Norrköping Visualization Center in May, the ceremony marked the end of an extraordinary three-year design and construction process.

Visitors to the National World War II Museum in New Orleans are moved and excited by its unique new immersive film attraction, Beyond All Boundaries, which not only tells the story of the “war that changed the world” but also breaks boundaries of its own in 4D cinema experiences. A large-scale immersive production that harnesses 21st century technology, Beyond All Boundaries plunges viewers into the Greatest Generation’s journey from Pearl Harbor into the heat of battle to the final victory of D-Day.  It premiered in the 250-seat Solomon Victory Theatre, part of the museum’s recent $300 million expansion.

Norwegian Film Institute Installs First CRMS

The Norsk Film Institute (NFI) in Oslo is literally the axle upon which the Norwegian film industry revolves. And with over 2000 screenings a year in its Oslo premises, roughly half of which are previews of major international releases for press and cinema owners, having the best vision and sound facilities are a fundamental requirement. It is with this in mind that the NFI has recently installed the first of Alcons’ new Cinema Ribbon Monitor Systems.
