The entertainment company Full Spectrum has animated the world's largest granite face with sophisticated 3D architectural mapping techniques to create a surreal tribute to American history as well as a glimpse of Atlanta's future. The new and improved show at Georgia's famed Stone Mountain relies on six Barco FLM HD20 projectors to create a virtual skin on the 825-foot tall granite outcropping, which is manipulated in countless creative ways: animating the civil war character carvings; simulating rocks blasting out of the surface with flowing volcanic lava; and lifting the virtual horses in flight toward the awe-inspired crowd.
SeaWorld Launches Turtle: The Incredible Journey

SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment has announced the launch of Turtle: The Incredible Journey, a family documentary directed by National Geographic Explorer's Nick Stringer. The film will be distributed in partnership with Hannover House by SeaWorld's newly formed SeaWorld Pictures division. Hannover House is the entertainment unit of Target Development Group.

Movie-Based Rides Open in China

As developer OCT builds and expands its network of theme parks throughout China, its two most recent successes are new dark ride attractions at Happy Valley outside Shanghai and Window of the World in Shenzhen, north of Hong Kong. Both attractions are movie-based dark rides featuring complex curved screens and a quad projection system with custom lenses, dynamic audio reinforcement and 4D effects. In Shanghai, Flight of the Dragon depicts an aerial journey over China showing vast landscapes, metropolitan areas, terraced farming and mountain ranges – sights that average Chinese theme park visitors may never get to see for themselves. In Shenzhen, Flying America depicts the scenic U.S. from its cities and landmarks to its national parks and diverse terrain – vistas that even Chinese tourists travelling to America can’t expect to see in a single visit.
