Worldwide Heavy Metal
On June 22nd the legendary heavy metal bands Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax will perform live at the Sonisphere Festival in Sofia, Bulgaria. At the same time audiences in 800 movie theatres around the world will be able to watch the concert live in high definition. NCM Fathom is presenting the concert in the U.S. in more than 450 theaters in over 140 markets at 7:30 p.m. local time on the same day. The event will be broadcast into theaters in Europe, Canada and Latin America through other international exhibitor partnerships. Resurrecting a Theatre Complex
Southern Theatres has selected digital cinema projectors from NEC for its newly renovated and redesigned Theatres at Canal Place in New Orleans. The move by Southern Theatres extends its current relationship with NEC and master reseller Ballantyne Strong and positions the exhibitor to capitalize on the growing list of upcoming 3D Hollywood movies. Screenvision, Paragon Theatres Announce New Long-Term Deal
Screenvision has announced a new long-term exhibitor agreement with Paragon Theatres. As a result of this deal, Screenvision broadens its position in the important Washington, D.C. and Miami markets. Under the deal, Screenvision will have the exclusive on-screen advertising rights and exclusive third party selling rights for promotions.
Barco Signs Supply Agreement with D-Cinema Korea

Microcinema to Join Arqiva’s Digital Cinema Platform
Arqiva has signed a partnership with Italian Digital Cinema distributor Microcinema to use Arqiva’s Digital Cinema platform on the Intelsat IS905 satellite to deliver live alternative content to its network of around 100 cinemas in Italy. B&B Theatres to Convert to Digital with GDC and Sonic
B&B Theatres has selected GDC Technology for its digital cinema conversion program. The exhibitor plans for a complete deployment of 205 screens over the next 24 months.
