Screenvision Media, in association with Kaos Connect has announced an exclusive alliance with Crunchyroll to deliver quarterly anime event cinema programs in 2017. Anime Movie Night, presented by Crunchyroll, will feature some of the most popular anime titles, both new and classic.

The company is focusing on science fiction-based animated film and television productions including science based children's content. In addition, they will co-produce adult animation content that does not fall into the manga genre. The first film from Last Studio Standing is Tonya (almost) Saves the Earth, a sci-fi comedy to be released in the spring of 2017

The Emoji Company and Sony Pictures Animation today announced that they have entered into a licensing agreement with regard to emoji company’s registered emoji trademark. The agreement covers the use of the term emoji in connection with SPA’s worldwide merchandising program for SPA's upcoming comedy feature The Emoji Movie, coming to theatres August 11.

Director Makoto Shinkai’s widely acclaimed animated film Your Name. has been nominated for top awards by the International Animated Film Society, ASIFA-Hollywood. Your Name., from Toho Co. is being distributed in North America by Funimation Films. It picked up a nomination for Best Animated Feature – Independent and as well as a nomination for best direction of an animated feature.
The Japanese film Your Name has made the official Oscar consideration list in the Best Animated Feature category. The film will be vying for one of five nomination spots in its category that will be voted on for the 89th annual Academy Awards. Funimation Films acquired North American distributions rights to Your Name earlier this year from Toho Co. in Japan
Animation, visual effects and design company Blur Studio has hired Eric Maurer, character effects supervisor and Oded Raz, asset supervisor. Maurer and Raz will bolster Blur's leadership team, increase the studio's capacity for larger projects, and foster the development of new technology as the company gears up for the next round of feature work by Blur co-founder and Deadpool director Tim Miller.
