Iranian Film Faced Unique Challenges

Sometimes the story of how a film was made is almost as compelling as the story the film itself tells. That was certainly the case with There is No Evil, this year’s Golden Bear winner at the 70th annual Berlinale, the 2020 Berlin Film Festival. The film, from Iranian director Mohammed Rasoulof, faced serious and unique challenges getting onto the big screen at a film festival. Parasite Best Picture Winner in Fandango Survey

According to Fandango, South Korean genre-bending hit Parasite is the top pick in the Best Picture race with 20 percent of the film fans’ votes, followed closely by Sam Mendes’ WWI epic 1917 with 19 percent. Parasite also took the number-one spot in the Best Director category, with first-time nominee Bong Joon Ho winning with 34 percent of votes.

QSC Q-SYS Audio, Video and Control Ecosystem to Receive Emmy

QSC’s Q-SYS Development team has been honored with a Technology and Engineering Emmy Award for its work on the Q-SYS Audio, Video and Control Ecosystem. The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences will honor Q-LAN network media distribution technology specifically in the category of Development of Synchronized Multi-Channel Uncompressed Audio Transport over IP Networks at the 71st Annual Technology and Engineering Emmy awards to be presented April 19 during the National Association of Broadcasters convention in Las Vegas.

ASC Names Outstanding Achievement Award Winners

The American Society of Cinematographers presented their 34th annual Outstanding Achievement Awards Saturday night at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. The Theatrical Award for best cinematography in a motion picture went to Roger Deakins, ASC, BSC for 1917. Jarin Blaschke took the Spotlight Award for The Lighthouse, and Fejmi Daut and Samir Ljuma won the inaugural Documentary Award for Honeyland.
