Chinese Exhibitors Embrace Christie RGB Laser Projector

According to Christie, its RGB laser projection system continues to be the preferred choice for a premium 3D cinema experience by leading cinema exhibitors across China. Since its rollout in June 2014 with the world’s first commercial RGB laser projection system installed at the Shanghai Film Art Center, Christie’s pinnacle projection technology has seen widespread adoption, the company said.

Unique Digital Partners with Sagaology for Chinese Market

Unique Digital has formed an exclusive reseller partnership with Sagaology Beijing Limited to make Unique’s software products available to the Chinese Exhibitor market. Withexclusive reseller rights for the Chinese market, Sagaology will work with local exhibitors and Integrators to debut RosettaBridge TMS, RosettaNet eTMS, Basekey KDM management services to the Chinese market. Sagaology will also provide installation, training services, product knowledge and support for the Unique Digital product line.

Cinépolis Adds 4DX to 12 Additional Sites

Cinépolis will install the 4DX immersive cinema experience in at least 12 additional auditoriums in the United States, India, Spain and across Latin America by the end of 2017. Five of these confirmed new sites will open in the U.S., Mexico, Spain and Chile by 2016. The two screens opening in the United States will be located in Carlsbad, north of San Diego, and Pico Rivera in Los Angeles, California.

Considering Chinese Exhibition

The motion picture business in China is one of, if not, the fastest growing in the world. By one estimate, there were some 31,000 screens in China by the end of 2015 and that number is expected to exceed 40,000 by the end of this year. Not surprisingly, a number of digital cinema technology companies have announced major Chinese sales in the past few months. Perhaps no company has enjoyed more success in China to date than Dolby. I recently spoke with Doug Darrow, senior vice president, cinema, Dolby Laboratories, about their success and the Chinese market in general.
