THX Certifies iQiyi’s First On-Demand Theatre

iQiyi today announced that the company’s first offline Yuker on-demand movie theatre in Zhongshan, Guangdong is now THX certified. Tao Lei, vice president of iQiyi, and Wu Hao, general manager of THX China unveiled the official THX Certified Cinema plaque during the opening ceremony launch event in Zhongshan, Guangdong on November 9. The company’s said this milestone not only reinforced iQiyi’s adherence to the company vision of “to become a technology-based entertainment giant”, but also demonstrated iQiyi and THX as the ideal partners to enable shopping malls to drive traffic and enhance engagement with consumers, as part of an ongoing transformation of retail spaces into digital entertainment complexes

Wanying Cinema to Open Fourteen New IMAX Theatres in Coming Years

IMAX Corporation and Wanying Cinema Line, a subsidiary of China Resources Land, one of China's largest state-owned commercial developers, today announced an agreement for 14 new IMAX theatres. The theatres will feature IMAX with Laser and are expected to open between 2018 and 2021. This agreement brings the total number of contracted IMAX theatres in Greater China to more than 900.

MixCine, China, to Open Dolby Cinemas

Dolby and the Wanying Cinema Line Company Limited have announced a partnership to extend the Dolby Cinema experience to more moviegoers in China. The exhibitor, which is wholly owned by China Resources Land Limited, operates movie theatres across China with the brand MixCine. The first location under the agreement is expected to be open at Wanying’s flagship site in Shenzhen with more locations to come in Southeast China in the following two years.

D-Box Signs New Deal with Link Digital Cinema

Link Digital Cinema China Technology, Beijing has signed an agreement to purchase additional D-Box motion systems in an effort to meet the growing demand for premium entertainment experiences. In a previous agreement, Link China installed seven D-Box screens for key locations across the country. With this new contract, D-Box is expected to install many more screens before the end of the year with some already in the installation process.
