Barco Ahead of Schedule in Reducing its Carbon Footprint

In 2016, Barco set a number of very ambitious five-year sustainability goals, to be established by 2020. These were reducing the carbon footprint of its operations by 20 percent, reducing the energy footprint of its products by 25 percent, and ensuring that at least 25 percent of new product releases would qualify for ecoscoring as defined in the ISO 14021 standard. And now, the company has announced that the first of these goals has already been reached in fiscal year 2019: one year in advance.

Dolby and Megabox Announce Five-Year Deal

Dolby Laboratories and MegaboxJoongAng (Megabox) today announced a five-year agreement to equip Megabox theaters in Korea with Dolby technologies. With this deal, Megabox will deploy Dolby’s Auditorium Packages, including servers, processors, speakers, and amplifiers, to Megabox Anseong Starfield and Namyangju Hyundai Premium Outlets Space One, making it the first case of Dolby’s Auditorium Packages being installed in all 5.1/7.1 channel screens within a single multiplex.

Laika Names Park Circus to be Repertory Sales Representative

Award-winning animation studio Laika has named Park Circus to be the repertory sales representative for the studio’s award-winning library of legacy films. The BAFTA and Golden Globe-winning Laika is best known for its five Oscar-nominated films:  Missing Link (2019); Kubo and the Two Strings (2016); The Boxtrolls (2014); ParaNorman (2012), and Coraline (2009). The agreement covers most international territories in addition to the United States and Canada.

CinemaNext Upgrades Horizon Auditorium

CinemaNext France recently equipped the Horizon auditorium at Megarama’s multiplex in the Paris suburb of Villeneuve-la-Garenne with a new 26-metre wide and 12.5-metre high screen, the largest cinema screen installed in a multiplex in France, as well as Dolby Atmos immersive sound in time for the August 26 release of Christopher Nolan's Tenet from Warner Bros.

Filmed in Imax Program Unveiled

Imax Corporation has unveiled its Filmed In Imax program, a new partnership with the world's leading camera manufacturers to meet filmmaker demand for the Imax Experience. Through the program, Imax will certify high-end, best-in-class digital cinema cameras with leading brands including Arri, Panavision, Red Digital Cinema and Sony to work in the Imax format when paired with its proprietary post-production process. Top Gun: Maverick shot with Sony's Venice, and Dune, shot with the Arri Alexa LF, will be among the first releases certified as Filmed in Imax.
