Classic Cinemas Signs Media Server Deal with GDC

On June 17, digital cinema pioneer Arts Alliance Media will celebrate its 20th anniversary. The company was founded in 2003 by Thomas Hoegh and Arts Alliance Ventures, and initiated the first global digital cinema rollout, replacing 35mm projectors with digital upgrades for the UK’s Digital Screen Network. A short time later, AAM became the founding investor of Lovefilm and Picturehouse Cinemas, which were eventually sold to Amazon and Cineworld respectively. In 2007, AAM negotiated financing agreements with the Hollywood studios and that same year launched its first theatre management system. In 2008 AAM completed the first virtual print fee deal in Europe with the French cinema chain CGR.
B&B Theatres has selected the GDC Technology’s SR-1000 Standalone Integrated Media Block with CineCache and built-in cinema audio processor for 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound for its Creve Coeur West Olive 10 luxury entertainment center. Look Dine-In Cinemas has selected GDC Technology’s SR-1000 Standalone Integrated Media Block with built-in DTS:X for immersive audio bitstream decoder. The new Look is located at 625 West 57th Street in the iconic Bjarke Ingels’-designed building.
Lotte Cinema has selected GDC Technology’s SR-1000 Standalone Integrated Media Block for its Lotte Cinema World Tower, which is upgrading the projection booth technology as part of a renovation project. The renovation started last year with plans to complete all 21 halls by this year.

The agreement names GDC Technology as the Official Presenting Sponsor of CineAsia 2022, the largest cinema convention and trade show in the Asia Pacific region. CineAsia is taking place from December 5-8 at the True Icon Hall in Bangkok, Thailand. GDC is located on the seventh floor of True Icon Hall in meeting room MR2.
