Does Netflix Violate Copyright Laws?

The entertainment company Hollywood Innovations Group has filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for Central District of California alleging that Netflix willfully violated the same copyright laws it routinely enforces against its own competitors. The also illustrates the power of new dubbing technologies to seamlessly adapt video content across dozens of languages. The technology helps expose broader audiences to global content, but Netflix has quickly found a way to leverage it to capture the lucrative and highly competitive Asian market.

Virtual Production Facility VA Studio Hanam Opens in Korea

With a total area of 11,265 square metres and claiming the largest LED wall in Korea, VA Corporation’s new VA Studio Hanam in Hanam, South Korea, provides what the company is calling state-of-the-art in-camera visual effects facilities optimized for immersive content production. Created in partnership with ARK Ventures in South Korea, this unique virtual production infrastructure is powered by Brompton Technology LED processing, with 4K Tessera SX40 processors driving four large LED walls that are all part of the new virtual production hub located in Hanam.

Cinionic Expands Deal with CJ CGV Cinemas

Cinionic, the Barco, CGS, and ALPD cinema joint venture, has expanded its exclusive relationship with South Korean-based exhibitor CJ CGV Cinemas to power more theatres with its projection systems. Under the new agreement, Cinionic will provide a technology mix that includes Barco Alchemy ICMP-X media servers and Barco projection for all new CJ CGV theatres over the next two years as the circuit pursues its ambitious growth strategy.
