Law in Film and TV Subject of July 20 Program

The depiction of the law in art and culture is as old as storytelling. Its manifestation in moving pictures often focuses on questions and concerns about the rule of law and equal citizenship in a well-functioning democracy. The Law Library of Congress and the Library’s Packard Campus for Audio Visual Conservation will offer a program highlighting the depiction of law in film and television July 20 at the Packard Campus Theater in Culpeper, Virginia. The event is free and open to the public, and no tickets are required.

HPA Tech Retreat UK Begins July 13

The HPA Tech Retreat makes its UK debut in Oxfordshire July 13-14. The Tech Retreat UK has announced an expanded agenda for the two-day event, which features two solid days of the sessions on today's timeliest and relevant topics and projects. HPA and SMPTE formalized a partnership last year, and the event is presented by HPA in collaboration with SMPTE. HPA Tech Retreat UK takes place at the Heythrop Park Resort, a manor house that serves as both a four-star hotel and a top-flight conference center.

Briana Ayala Wins NYWIFT’s First Sabrina Wright-Gilliar Award

The New York Women in Film & Television’s first annual Sabrina Wright-Gilliar Scholarship will be presented to Briana Ayala June 28 at the Academy for Careers in Television and Film graduation ceremony at the Skirball Center. The scholarship honors the memory of the legendary prop master Wright-Gilliar and will be given to a female high school senior graduating from TvF in Queens.

Ymagis Acquires Christa Kistner Synchronproduktion

Ymagis Group has acquired Berlin-based Christa Kistner Synchronproduktion, one of Germany’s leading dubbing companies for the cinema and television industries. Under the terms of the agreement, Ymagis SA, through one of its wholly owned German subsidiaries, becomes the sole shareholder of Christa Kistner Synchronproduktion. Christa Kistner remains in her functions as its managing director.

Scott Farr is one of the busiest and most sought after production sound mixers in Southern California. So he’s quite familiar with the rigors of carrying his audio kit over a long day of work.“The trick”, he explains “is how to best carry the weight in the front, and distribute it evenly so you don’t tear up your back, while keeping your shoulders free.
