The Hollywood Post Alliance has announced the 2014 Call for Entries for its Engineering Excellence Award. The Engineering honor showcases inventors, manufacturers, vendors and/or peer post-production companies for outstanding product or technology application offerings. Valid offerings may include products or processes, and must represent a step forward for its industry beneficiaries. The HPA Engineering Excellence Award is recognized as one of the most important technology honors in the post-production industry.

Mount St. Mary’s College to Offer Film & TV Masters Degree

Mount St. Mary's College is broadening its array of film degrees by launching a new master of fine arts degree in film & television. The two-year, co-ed program will be held on weekends to accommodate both working professionals and aspiring young filmmakers, and includes actors' workshops as well as lectures from visiting industry professionals.

HPA Announces Call For Entries for Judges Award for Creativity and Innovation

The Hollywood Post Alliance has opened its call for entries for the HPA Judges Award for Creativity and Innovation in Post-Production. This award was conceived to recognize companies and individuals who have demonstrated excellence in post-production, whether in creative storytelling and/or technical innovation, and is judged by a jury of peers and industry experts. The Creativity and Innovation honors have consistently attracted the most thoughtful and forward thinking companies and individuals in the industry.

The Foundry to Launch Live Sessions June 19

The Foundry is launching the first Foundry Sessions with a live transmission from its London headquarters on Thursday June 19 at 7pm British Summer Time. People who can’t participate in the live event will be able to access a recording on The Foundry’s website afterwards. The Session will be a one hour digital broadcast including live Q&A via #TFsessions enabling participants anywhere to interact with guest speakers and specialists from @TheFoundryTeam.

X-Men: Days Of Future Past Relied on Codex

Codex recording and workflow technology was used at the heart of the production to post pipeline on 20th Century Fox’s latest superhero movie X-Men: Days Of Future Past. A combination of Codex Onboard Recorders, in-camera XR recording, and Vault systems, enabled the filmmakers to deploy a variety of Arri Alexa cameras, shooting both native 3D and 2D using ArriRaw, and to maximize image quality on-set and during post-production.
