Leading Russian cinema operator Karo will open ten Karo: New Generation locations with developer ADG over the next 10 months, with the first to open on November 15. Another six locations are slated to open by the end of the year. The remaining Karo: New Generation multiplexes will open in Russian regional cities — in collaboration with other real estate partners — beginning in the second quarter of 2022, with further large-scale expansion planned through 2024.
CinemaNext today announced an agreement with Kinostar for a Sphera premium cinema and the supply of cinema equipment and installation services for a new six-screen, 926-seat cinema at the Grozny Mall in the Chechen Republic of the Russian Federation.

Home to the Moscow International Film Festival and the preferred location for major movie premieres in Russia, the distinguished 1,500 seat hall is widely regarded as Russia’s leading movie premiere and festival site.
The Cinema Star, the new multiplex located in the Kvartal West multipurpose center on Aminyevskoye Shosse in Moscow, is the first Dolby Atmos cinema to also feature the Christie CP4440-RGB digital cinema projector RealLaser illumination technology.
United Cinema Chain Kino Okko will be the first company to introduce the Dolby Cinema experience to the Russian market at its Cinema Park Metropolis in Moscow. Dolby Atmos immersive audio technology has been successfully deployed at several Russian movie theatres in recent years.
The official premiere of the Disney film The Nutcracker and the Four Realms to place in Moscow’s Zaryadye Concert Hall, which opened in September. The stage has already played host to famous orchestras and world-renowned musicians, but the screening of the Walt Disney Studios Sony Pictures Releasing movie was the first international premiere to take place at the venue. The event featured a Christie CP4325-RGB pure laser projector and CineLife electronics platform. Christie’s long-time partner in Russia, Asia Cinema, provided technical support for the premiere.
Volfoni has been granted Russian patent number RU2669544C2 for its triple-beam technology, which underlies the company’s SmartCrystal Diamond passive three dimensional cinema product. This patent had already previously been granted in both the USA and China. The extension in Russia ensures that Volfoni’s technologies are fully protected around the world.
