Movio Announces Global Launch of Audience Insights
Movio has announced that its new Audience Insights tool launches globally next week. The company believes it could revolutionize how cinemas engage with their customers by predicting the most likely audience for each film. A world-first, cinema-centric tool, it draws on past audience behavioral data, helping cinema marketers connect moviegoers with the films most suited to them. They can then work out how best to incentivize attendance.
Vista Group Increases Stake in China
Cinema software firm Vista Group International has bought back 7.9 per cent of its Chinese entity for $7.7 million, leaving it with 47.5 per cent of the business and allowing it to treat the division as a controlled entity within the group
B&B Theatre Signs with Dealflicks for Ticket Sales
B&B Theatres, the seventh largest U.S. movie theatre chain, and Dealflicks have successfully launched a mix of full-priced tickets and deals across B&B’s 391 screens and 49 theatres. While online ticketing for all films and show times will be available, a varied amount of ticket and concession deals will be available for movies on certain days.
Sundance Chooses AAM Software Second Year in a Row
For the second year in a row, Arts Alliance Media has been chosen to provide cinema software to the 2018 Sundance Film Festival. AAM’s Theatre Management Software is also powering the cinema screens of six Sundance Institute venues throughout the festival.
Kimbal Riley Named Vista Group CEO
Vista Group International has announced that Kimbal Riley will take over as group CEO from Murray Holdaway. Holdaway will take up the position of chief product officer and will continue in his role as an executive director on the Vista Group board. This has taken place as part of a succession planning process. The transition takes effect April 3.

GDC Spotlights Cinema Automation 2.0 at CineAsia 2017
GDC Technology showcased its next generation of cinema automation system to motion pictures exhibitors during CineAsia 2017 this week at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre. Cinema Manager is the result of nearly two years of development.
AAM Acquired by China’s Luxin-Rio
Arts Alliance Media today announced that it has been acquired by Shandong Luxin-Rio Visual Technology of Qingdao, China. The acquisition complements Luxin-Rio’s existing portfolio of companies and investments in the cinema space.
