CineEurope to Celebrate 25 Years

This year marks the 25th anniversary of CineEurope, the most important convention and trade show dedicated to cinema operators in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region. More than 3,500 attendees from distribution, exhibition, equipment and concessions will descend upon the Centre Convencions Internacional Barcelona in Barcelona, Spain from June 20-23 to help celebrate the silver anniversary.

SMPTE Details Keynotes and Program for Entertainment Technology in the Connected Age

The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers revealed further details today about the Entertainment Technology in the Connected Age conference keynote addresses by Roy Taylor, corporate vice president of Advanced Micro Devices and Ron Sanders, president of Warner Bros. Worldwide Home Entertainment Distribution. Scheduled for June 27-28 at the Heritage Theatre in Campbell, California, and subtitled The Race Is On, ETCA 2016 will explore the impact of emerging technologies on the delivery of a compelling connected entertainment experience.

After 37 years in Manhattan, IFP’s signature event, IFP Film Week is moving across the river to Brooklyn. The event will set up shop in DUMBO anchored around its headquarters, the Made in NY Media Center By IFP. Since its downtown beginnings as the Independent Feature Film Market in 1979, IFP Week has evolved into a must-attend gathering for the global storytelling community. It remains the only international co-production market for film – and now television, web-based, and VR projects – in the United States, with over 150 projects from over 22 countries curated and presented as scripts and works-in-progress each year.

Call for Papers for SMPTE 2016

The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers is seeking proposals for technical papers for the SMPTE 2016 Annual Technical Conference & Exhibition October 24-28 in Hollywood, California. The proposed papers must be informational and address technical theory, research, innovations, applications, or practices specific to any of the evolving technologies associated with the media technology industry. Initial abstracts must be submitted online no later than April 22.

European, Russian VOD Market Topic at CSTB 2016 in Moscow

The European Audiovisual Observatory, part of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, and Russian film consultancy Nevafilm, are organizing a free conference January 27 during the 18th CSTB 2016 in Moscow. A networking drinks reception will follow the conference. The Observatory and Nevafilm will present their new report on the Russian television and video on demand market. This new report will be available free for download following the conference.
