Talking with DejaEdit Developer Nikolai Waldman

CAN Film is a boutique post-production and film company based in the heart of Gothenburg, Sweden. Clas Hakeröd and Nikolai Waldman, two highly experienced and trusted names within the industry, started the company in 2015. For the past 20 years they have been producing and post-producing commercials, features, corporate films, documentaries and TV series, like The girl who played with fire, Olympic Games, Saltön, Ettor & nollor, Americas Cup, Uppdrag Granskning, Volvo, IKEA and many more. Recently, Waldman branched out to start the company DejaSoft and develop the editing software tool DejaEdit. Digital Cinema Report spoke with him about how DejaEdit came to be.

MTI Film Cortex v5.2 Certified to Support Dolby Vision Content Mapping v4

MTI Film’s workflow software Cortex v5.2 has been officially certified to support Dolby Vision Content Mapping v4. Cortex can be used to apply Dolby Vision Content Mapping algorithms (v2 and v4) in preparing Dolby Vision interoperable master format packages, and when importing, exporting or modifying Dolby Vision XML and MXF files.

Addressing Yesterday’s Workflow Challenges

Yesterday, the new British musical comedy directed by Danny Boyle, which was released last month following its debut at the Tribeca Film Festival, used as many as twelve cameras for some scenes. This presented some serious workflow challenges. To address them, cinematographer Christopher Ross BSC, who had previously worked with Boyle on the TV series Trust was joined by Mission digital imaging technician Thomas Patrick who had worked with him for the first time on Trust in 2017.

Panasonic V-Log Update Earns Netflix Post Alliance Approval

The latest free firmware upgrade to Panasonic’s AK-UC4000 4K/HD HDR-capable camera system has added V-Log output, incorporating the full power of the colorimetry of the company’s line of VariCam and AU-EVA1 cinema cameras and making the camera useful for post-production workflows. With the inclusion of V-Log, the AK-UC4000 has earned approval of the Netflix Post Alliance for creating Netflix-approved content, joining the VariCam 35, VariCam LT, VariCam PURE and EVA1 on the sanctioned list.
