B&B Theatres today signed an agreement that makes GDC Technology Limited its exclusive provider of digital cinema servers for the next three years. B&B Theatres is one of the fastest-growing cinema chains in the US adding 144 screens and 11 movie theatres in the last 18 months to become the fifth-largest domestic theatre circuit. B&B Theatres now operates 513 screens at 56 sites in 14 states.
The agreement involves the replacement of legacy media servers with the GDC SR-1000 Standalone Integrated Media Block with diskless CineCache at all existing B&B sites and new SR-1000 IMB deployment in current and future construction projects in North America. The deployment will be facilitated by Sonic Equipment, which will also provide ongoing technical services for the duration of the agreement.
“At B&B, we think of our vendor partners as family. GDC has been a part of our family since 2009. We chose GDC for their great products and customer service, but the most important factor was they honestly care about the movie business,” said Brock Bagby, executive vice president of B&B Theatres. “Extending our relationship was not a difficult decision. The entire GDC staff has the same passion as the B&B team to continually deliver an extraordinary and memorable moviegoing experience.”
“One of life’s greatest pleasures is watching your customer’s business grow rapidly,” said Annie Wang, president of GDC Technology USA. “To witness such phenomenal growth in such a short time is testament to B&B’s vision to bring the highest quality entertainment to cities across America. We are proud to be a part of the B&B family and look forward to working together to spread their vision from coast to coast.”
In other news, GDC announced that sales for the SR-1000 have exceeded forecasts for the first quarter as have sales for its Espedeo Supra-5000 RGB+ Laser Phosphor Cinema Projector.
