Cinéma Triomphe in Terrebonne, Quebec received the Best Use of New Technology Global Award from the International Cinema Technology Association for its XPX premium large format screen, XPX. The theatre offers a 56-foot-wide screen with 360-diffusion.
The award is given to the cinema that brings a new concept or technology to the industry in a unique and innovative way. Cinema Triomphe’s XPX was recognized for its fully immersive experience and never-before-seen technology that offers viewers above standard image quality, comfort, and acoustics.
With 40 speakers that deliver Dolby Atmos sound, the theatre is the first in Canada to have a laser projector, Barco SP4K-40, with 40,000 lumens, which offers higher resolution and higher contrast.
The award was presented last month at ICTA Convention Gala in Los Angeles, which attracts hundreds of participants from across the globe within the cinema industry.
“Our mission has always been to deliver the best possible moviegoing experience for our patrons,” said Raffaele Papalia, president of Cinémas Ciné Entreprise. “Exploring the use of new technology in our theatres has allowed us to elevate the movie-going experience to exceed industry standards.”
Plans are underway to update screens at Corporate Cine Cinema’s other locations.
