For the 19th year in a row, Cinionic is serving as the Official Projection Partner for the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival, Berlinale. Cinionic is providing all-laser Barco projection for the 2023 event, running February 16-26 at Berlinale Palast, the Verti Music Hall, and the Haus der Berliner Festspiele.
“Cinionic will once again support us with their state-of-the-art projection technology and their excellent support,” says Ove Sander, technical manager digital cinema, Berlinale. “We are especially excited to use two of their latest Series-4 SP4K-55 projectors at our new venue, Verti Music Hall.”
Cinionic continues a 19-year tradition of powering Berlinale with Barco cinema projection, providing equipment and installation for the show. The event is the largest publicly attended film festival in the world, selling more than 300,000 tickets in 2020. After the past two editions were scaled down due to the pandemic, Berlinale returns to its full capacity this year with Laser Projection by Cinionic lighting up festival screens with bright, high-quality movie presentation.
“We are proud to once again support Berlinale in celebrating exceptional cinema and film as a creative art form,” says Carl Rijsbrack, CMO, Cinionic. “With laser projection powering the festival, Cinionic delivers a greener way to enjoy movies and enables filmmakers in Berlin and around the world to showcase their work in bright, sharp, vivid laser quality.”
Laser projection delivers a more environmentally friendly way to enjoy cinema, producing less waste and reducing energy consumption for a lower carbon footprint. Today Cinionic is leading the global transition to laser-powered cinema with more than 30,000 units deployed and partnerships with major exhibitors such as Germany’s Kinopolis and Cineplex Muenster.
