Harkness Screens supplied its new Clarus XC screen for the New York City premiere of Sony Pictures Entertainment’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 held at the Ziegfeld Theatre April 24. The 52-foot by 22.5-foot Clarus XC 220 3D screen was installed to run NEC projection and RealD 3D.
“We’ve been working closely with major film studios and key customers on the development of Clarus XC technology for some time,” said Keith Watanabe, Americas sales director at Harkness Screens. “The two key objectives we set were to dramatically improve the quality of 3D presentation for cinema goers at an affordable cost to exhibitors and with Clarus XC we’ve achieved both of those. We’re delighted that Sony Pictures share that desire to improve 3D presentation and recognise the improvement Clarus XC technology is able to make.”
Lori Furie, senior vice president of production for Sony Pictures Entertainment, said, “I've watched the movie dozens of times and seeing it projected on this screen with that added sharpness, clarity and depth, in this theatre, really made for a great, immersive experience."
