Horizon Cinema plans to open a new Dolby Atmos multiplex in Russia. Based in Rostov-on-Don, the 13-screen multiplex is set to open by the end of 2017 and will be the biggest Dolby Atmos multiplex in Russia.

Each screen will be equipped with the Dolby Integrated Media Server, IMS3000, the Dolby Multichannel Amplifier and SLS 3-Axis Speakers. Horizon has selected Cinemeccanica as its chosen technical partner and integrator to support with the installation of this significant project.

The announcement follows Dolby’s recent milestone of surpassing 100 Dolby Atmos screens in Russia and CIS. Currently, more than 2,800 Dolby Atmos screens have been installed or committed to in more than 75 countries. Over 700 titles have been announced with support from all major Hollywood studios.

“We are seeing a growing trend of multiplex wide Dolby Atmos installations by exhibitors, like Horizon Cinema, who are looking to deliver a state-of-the-art sound experience to every moviegoer visiting the complex,” said Fritz Deininger, senior director of cinema, Dolby Laboratories. “Dolby Atmos has seen fantastic momentum in Russia and the CIS. We look forward to working with Horizon to open Russia’s largest multiplex wide deployment which promises to deliver an amazing experience to more moviegoers within the region.”

“This new, luxury 13-screen Horizon Cinema will deliver the ultimate experience to audiences in Russia,” said Dan Polonsky, general manager, Horizon Cinema. “We are proud to be the first exhibitor in Russia to have all screens equipped with Dolby Atmos and we are confident that our collaboration with Dolby will offer a new level of quality and entertainment for cinemagoers in Rostov-on-Don.”
