Erwin Brothers Entertainment and Kevin Downes Productions, in association with the Oklahoma Film + Music Office will start principal photography November 30 on the feature film I Can Only Imagine in Oklahoma. The film is utilizing the Oklahoma Film Enhancement Rebate Program administered by OF+MO.

“We are thrilled to be filming in the state of Oklahoma,” said producer Kevin Downes. “With its long sunsets and unique landscapes coupled with the experience of Oklahoma film crews, we believe I Can Only Imagine will show off the beauty of this state.”

The film will be directed by brothers Jon and Andrew Erwin, whose previous credits include hit films such as October Baby, Moms’ Night Out, and Woodlawn. Daryl Lefever and Cindy Bond are producing the film alongside co-producers Josh Walsh and Joe Knopp and executive producers Travis Mann, Simon Swart and Scott Brickell.

Written by Jon Erwin and Brent McCorkle, I Can Only Imagine tells the story behind the iconic multi-platinum song of the same name which found an audience with both pop and Christian fans everywhere, selling millions of copies worldwide and reaching the top of the Billboard Top 200 singles chart. Based on the true story of lead singer Bart Millard and the band MercyMe, this film seeks to inspire audiences everywhere with its authentic portrait of faith, love and family.

“If there was ever a question about how a film enhances a state’s image, “I Can Only Imagine” is the perfect example of how talented filmmakers will globally showcase the beauty of Oklahoma on the big screen,” said OF+MO director Tava Maloy Sofsky. “We are thrilled the Erwin Brothers and Kevin Downes Productions chose Oklahoma to tell this unique story. The state’s rebate program has allowed the film production to both employ the services of our skilled Oklahoma crew and film-friendly businesses as well as engage our local community leaders. It is our hope that those who benefit from the impact of this production will be able to share their experiences for years to come.”

Currently, the production is casting extras of all ages, genders and nationalities to be featured in the film. Additional information on the film’s casting calls including a link for registration can be found here.
