DTS today announced the first DTS:X quality control screening room in Japan has opened at Imagica Entertainment Media Services, Japan's largest post-production facility.
The full DTS:X cinema system has been integrated into Imagica EMS's Tokyo Imaging Center theater, opening this month in Shinagawa City. This is the first full DTS:X quality control theater in Japan and supports a growing ecosystem of DTS:X soundtrack creation and exhibition by enabling producers and distributors to create and quality-check DTS:X versions of digital cinema packages domestically. Content partners can now screen and review local and Hollywood movies released in the DTS:X audio format in the state-of-the-art facility.
“Our collaboration with Imagica EMS encourages filmmakers to explore an expanded universe of sound with DTS:X immersive audio,” said Bill Neighbors, chief content officer, Xperi. “Local content partners now have access to a facility where they can create, ensure quality, and showcase their new releases with DTS:X immersive sound technology.”
“The integration of DTS:X audio technology expands the possibilities for our filmmakers to reach audiences in a more personal and deeply engaging way,” said Tadashi Aota, executive officer, Imagica Entertainment Media Service. “Collaborating with DTS, we would like to expand the project using DTS:X immersive audio technology in Japan among the rapid growth of DTS:X-enabled content availability worldwide.”
The DTS:X technology available to filmmakers at the Tokyo Imaging Center includes a DTS:X-enabled cinema server, featuring a GDC SX-4000 Standalone Integrated Media Block, supporting 5.1/7.1 surround sound and DTS:X immersive sound, as well as a QSC 510c Q-SYS cinema audio processor and renders DTS:X immersive sound.
An event demonstrating the new DTS:X screening room for sound creators and producers in the cinema industry will take place in September at the Imagica EMS Tokyo Imaging Center.
