Kinema founder and CEO, Christie Marchese, has been named one of Fast Company’s Most Creative People in Business in the entertainment category. The 12th annual list honors an influential and diverse group of leaders from a vast range of global industries including tech, science, design, entertainment, healthcare, media, government, nonprofit, sports, and food. The Most Creative People in Business list recognizes individuals who, through innovative thinking and bold action, have made an impact in their industries and beyond. These engineers, executives, filmmakers, activists, designers, research scientists, and founders, among others, have done something within their field that’s never been done before, during one of the most contentious and erratic times in history.

“This is an exciting time to be in the entertainment and film distribution space, and it is truly an honor to be recognized by Fast Company as one of 2021’s most creative people,” said Marchese.  “Kinema is carving a new path forward for film marketing and distribution -- together as a team, we are working hard to champion content creators everywhere to be able to share their stories with audiences far and wide on our platform. Our goal is to effectively eliminate ‘theater deserts’ by making it easy and fun for anyone, anywhere to support the filmmaking they want to see.”

Marchese launched Kinema in 2021 and is building a world-wide network of screening hosts, filmmakers, and filmgoers. The Kinema platform expands the film marketing and distribution industry by enabling a social and immersive cinema experience. The team is committed to being a resource to filmmakers and distributors by providing a new way of digital distribution, marketing, and monetization.

Fast Company editors and writers spent a year researching candidates for the list, scouting every business sector, including technology, medicine, engineering, marketing, entertainment, design, and social good. The people selected have all accomplished something truly innovative within the past 12 months or so, and they’re also discoveries—no one on this list has ever been profiled in the pages of Fast Company before. Together, they represent the future of business.

“This list has always recognized people across genres who aim to make a difference through the power of creativity,” said Stephanie Mehta, editor-in-chief of Fast Company. “But this year is even more exciting as these individuals’ transcendent strides were made amid the most trying time in our lifetime. The Most Creative People are an inspiration for us all.”
