Nite Owl Theatre has created a laser projection drive-in cinema experience in the heart of Miami, Florida. Featuring a 53-foot screen, the Knight Foundation-backed theatre can accommodate between 65-70 cars per screening. This enables Miami area movie lovers to reconnect with the big screen from the safety of their car and ensures theater guests will enjoy enhanced visual experiences, with brighter higher quality images, while maintaining social distance in the new venue.

Nite Owl Theatre has created a laser projection drive-in cinema experience in the heart of Miami, Florida.“Taking 4K RGB laser projection outdoors in Miami was going to be a challenge,” said Nite Owl founder, Nayib Estefan. “My dream has always been to work with Barco and Harkness Screens on a massive drive-in theatre and to bring art house cinema quality deep in the heart of downtown,” “Working with CES+ and Airstream Trailers, we were able to seamlessly outfit a 22-foot Airstream Bambi with the gnarliest 4K DCP laser rig Miami has ever seen. Finally, the Nite Owl can play all the 4K remasters of classic films, and new content we have never been able to access. Which is exciting after having previously operated a strictly 35mm repertory theater. Anyone that has been to a Nite Owl Drive-In show will tell you: this is the best that cinema has looked, ever.”

As audiences around the world continue to crave community entertainment experiences, there has been a renewed interest in drive-in and theater concepts. The exceptionally bright laser cinema technology from Cinionic makes bringing exceptional cinema presentation in outdoor settings possible like never before, with high brightness and a reduced environmental impact.

“It was a pleasure to work with Nayib Estefan to provide a unique experience unlike anything the city of Miami has ever seen,” said Edward Younger, USA internal sales at CES+. “I am excited to have worked with our new partner Nite Owl, installing the latest laser technology from Cinionic, the Barco SP4K-40 delivering 40,000 lumens on a 53-foot outdoor screen with FM stereo sound. This is a great opportunity for Miamians to enjoy a great movie safely outdoors conveniently located in art district of downtown Miami.”

“People miss the movies, and together with CES+, we delivered solutions to face the times we live in,” said Wim Buyens, Cinionic CEO. “Our shared passion and ingenuity allow us to bring larger than life stories to audiences in Miami and around the world. We are proud to illuminate giant screens for the brightest drive-in experience.”
