SMPTE has named Sally-Ann D’Amato as the organization’s interim executive director. She is replacing David Grindle who will conclude his term as executive director on October 18.
D’Amato has been involved in nearly every aspect of SMPTE operations and governance during her 23 years with the organization.
D’Amato joined SMPTE in 2001, rising to become director of events and governance liaison in 2016. She now steps into the role of interim executive director and will be “instrumental in ensuring continuity and progress across SMPTE initiatives.
“Throughout my tenure, I have had the pleasure of working closely with Sally-Ann,” said SMPTE president Renard T. Jenkins. “I have witnessed her leadership-in-action approach; it is both refreshing and effective. I look forward to supporting her as she continues to provide extraordinary service and contributions to the SMPTE community.”
Grindle joined SMPTE in July 2022 after working as Executive Director of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology for the previous 12 years. He succeeded Barbara Lange, who stepped down at the end of 2021 after 12 years.
