The shared experience of the cinema is unmatched. But has contemporary scrolling on individual screens hurt audiences’ ability to participate in a collective screening? What happens when a director gets to direct his audience? During an exclusive screening of Triangle of Sadness at the Göteborg Film Festival, director Ruben Östlund will break the fourth wall and step into the movie theater; not only having directed the film showing on the screen, but also directing the audience in the cinema.

Göteborg Fundraising for Ukrainian Children

In support of Ukraine, the Göteborg Film Festival is teaming up with Story, Draken Film and Folkets Bio to host screenings of Simon Lereng Wilmont's festival winner A House made of Splinters, set in a children's home in Eastern Ukraine. The screenings will take place in cinemas throughout Sweden and online via Göteborg Film Festival’s streaming service, Draken Film. All money raised from the screenings will go in full to the organization Voices of Children in Ukraine.

Draken Film Launches Bad Movie Index

What happens if you compare the streaming giants’ top movies with their ratings on major movie rating sites? The Bad Movie Index, created by Draken Film, the Swedish streaming service for quality cinema, was created to inspire people to broaden their film taste with what the service believes is the first-ever moving subscription price.

Isolated Cinema Winner Named

Last month, when the Göteborg Film Festival announced that one person would have the opportunity to watch this year’s festival at Pater Noster lighthouse without family, friends or mobile phone, the idea turned out to be immensely appealing. In less than two weeks, the festival committee received more than 12,000 applications from more than 45 countries. After a comprehensive process involving interviews and tests, one person has finally been selected for the coveted place: emergency nurse and film enthusiast Lisa Enroth from Skövde, Sweden.
