Post Leader Calls for Strikes to End

In an impassioned formal statement, Yana Collins Lehman, chair of the Post New York Alliance, called for a quick end to the actors’ and writers’ strikes. If the strikes continue for too long, she fears, there may be no post-production houses still in business to support film and television production. Here is her statement in its entirety:

The Post New York Alliance has added three new members to its association: Cadence Effects, Running Man, and Shishkin Productions. The PNYA continues to grow as New York’s post-production industry expands and more companies and individual professionals seek to support its mission of advocating for the state’s media tax credit program and other issues of common interest.

Webinar Reflects on the Closing of DuArt

In the next edition of Post Break, the free webinar series from the Post New York Alliance, a group of industry leaders will reflect on the recently announced closure of DuArt after nearly 100 years of continuous service. Panelists David Leitner, Jane Tolmachyov, Tim Spitzer, and Bob Mastronardi will join moderator Domenic Rom to reminisce about their years with the trailblazing company and celebrate its pivotal role in shaping New York’s post-production industry. The free event is scheduled for Thursday, December 16 at 4:00 p.m. EST.

Fittingly for a film rooted in Broadway, post-production on the feature film Tick, Tick … Boom! was largely completed in New York City by members of the Post New York Alliance. Visual effects house Phosphene used its wizardry to reconstruct several of Larson’s hangouts from the 1990s and help the production overcome the challenges of filmmaking during the covid pandemic. Picture finishing, meanwhile, was executed wholly at Company 3, where award-winning colorist Stephen Nakamura worked with Miranda and cinematographer Alice Brooks, ASC to finetune the dreamlike imagery used to tell Larson’s story.

P-Valley Posts in New York City

Editorial and post-production finishing for the eight-episode, first season of the hit Starz series P-Valley was centered in New York as several Post New York Alliance member companies helped bring the fictional small town of Chucalissa, Mississippi vibrantly to life. New York City facilities Goldcrest Post, Harbor and Technicolor PostWorks each played a role in the project, as did Foley specialist Alchemy Post Sound and VFX studio The Molecule.

Production Resumes in New York City

When New York City began Phase 4 reopening of its economy, it paved the way for the resumption of film and television production under restrictions designed to forestall the spread of coronavirus. Productions must implement testing, apply rigorous cleaning measures and practice social distancing. But the good news is, the city is back in the business of making films and television shows.
