Barco Escape to Barcelona
As European motion picture professionals gather in Barcelona this week for the start of CineEurope 2015, Barco will once again be highlighting the Barco Escape format, arguably one of the hits of this year’s CinemaCon in Las Vegas. Prior to CineEurope I got a progress report from Barco executives and some Escape customers about the new format and how exhibitors and audiences have responded to it so far.

ECA to Host Two Events at CineEurope June 22-25 in Barcelona
The Event Cinema Association this year will host two events at CineEurope June 22-25 in Barcelona. The CineEurope Focus Sessions – a panel discussion on the trade show floor on Tuesday June 23 at 4:00 pm – will feature some high profile, first time speakers: Emma Keith of NT Live, John Bullen of Sony Europe, Duncan Connal of Vue Cinemas, John Lewis of Broadway Cinema Letchworth, and Grant Calton of Fathom Events. This will be followed the next day by a poolside reception.
Band Pro Hosts Free 70mm Screening of Baraka at Cine Gear LA 2015
Band Pro will present a free 70mm screening of Baraka on June 5th at 1:00 p.m. in the Sherry Lansing Theater at Cine Gear LA 2015. A Q&A with producer Mark Magidson, moderated by cinematographer Jon Fauer, will immediately follow the film.

Neil Hunt, Netflix, to Keynote SMPTE Entertainment Technology in the Internet Age Conference
The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers has announced that Dr. Neil Hunt, chief product officer at Netflix, will present the keynote address at the Entertainment Technology in the Internet Age conference June 16-17 at Stanford University near Palo Alto, California. Titled The Race Is On!, the conference will explore past, current, and future technology requirements for delivering a compelling entertainment experience on the Internet.
