BTS World Tour, Love Yourself Releasing in ScreenX Format

The concert film BTS World Tour, Love Yourself, in Seoul, will be released in CJ 4DPlex’s multi-screen ScreenX format on January 26 for a two-week run. The film was shot at the Olympic Stadium in Seoul last August and captures the opening of the current tour. The tour has already drawn thousands of fans spanning the world from North America to Europe and Asia, and has proved to be the most sought-after tour of 2018.

Fandango, IMAX Partner on VOD

FandangoNow, Fandango’s video on-demand service, will become the first U.S. digital retailer for IMAX Enhanced films releasing to home video. FandangoNow will have exclusive rights as the sole transactional VOD service to feature this content in the U.S. through 2019. The IMAX Enhanced program is a certification and licensing program, combining IMAX digitally re-mastered 4K high dynamic range content and DTS audio technologies.

Abramorama Releasing East Bay Punk Documentary to iTunes

Abramorama and Giant Pictures announced today that the punk music documentary, Turn it Around: The Story of East Bay Punk is being released in more than 70 territories including the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Brazil and Latin America. The film can now be purchased only on iTunes.

Abramorama originally released the film in theaters during the Fall of 2017, and it has played to enthusiastic audiences in more than 125 markets across the U.S. 

Making Sense of the SMPTE DCP Standard

Despite the fact that the industry adopted an internationally ratified SMPTE DCP standard nearly a decade ago, there remains widespread confusion and disagreement about what constitutes a universally accepted digital cinema package. If that sentence makes no sense to you, you’re not alone. For months the European Digital Cinema Forum with sponsorship from the International Union of Cinemas has been developing a web portal to address this problem. Their mission statement is, “To act as an informational resource for the industry on the SMPTE DCP and its operational use, and to provide a point of reference of on-boarding for those individuals/organizations willing to aid in the transitional process on a territory by territory basis.”

Storbeck to Head Production at Éclair’s New Berlin Dubbing Studios

Éclair has appointed Anno Storbeck as head of production for Éclair Studios, the new state-of-the-art dubbing and automatic dialogue replacement studios in Central Berlin. He will be responsible for the artistic and commercial production management of all dubbing and ADR productions for film distributors, producers, rights holders and content service crossover sales. Based in Berlin, Storbeck reports directly to Éclair country manager Michael Krauth.
