Kinema Adds More than Sixty Films to Growing Content Library

Kinema, which calls itself a cinematic experience platform, has expanded its film library to a total of more than 60 new titles. New partners include Magnolia Pictures, Greenwich Entertainment, Abramorama, Cargo Releasing, Frameline, Film Movement and Well Go USA. The rollout of the new titles, all of which have experienced global film festival recognition and critically acclaimed industry reviews, will continue this summer into the late fall.

Cinedigm, Exeest Partnering on Film Submission Platform

Cinedigm is partnering with online entertainment marketplace Exeest to power a fully integrated film submission platform for Fandor and its portfolio of channels. The advanced platform will use Exeest's exclusive technology to streamline the film submission process for independent filmmakers, provide the Fandor programming team a state-of-the-art way to solicit, ingest, screen and evaluate film content suitable for its audience.

Sixth Annual Hip Hop Film Festival Begins August 1

The Harlem Film House’s sixth annual Hip Hop Film Festival will offer film screenings, live block parties, rap battles, master classes known as Master Cyphers, and more. The festival takes place August 1 through September 3, with in-person events at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Downtown Brooklyn, live events on 247films.tv, and in the Harlem Film House VR Metaverse. The opening night Art of the Score pre-festival event, to be held August 1, will feature hip hop legend Chuck D of Public Enemy.

New Digital Platform Cinnovate Secures EU Funding

A new digital platform with the working title Cinnovate has secured € 380.000 funding through the European Union programme Cinemas as Innovation Hubs for Local Communities. The effort’s partners include four of Europe’s leading arthouse cinema networks – Folkets Hus och Parker, Folkets Bio (both from Sweden), Access Cinema (Ireland) and Art kino mreža Slovenije (Slowenia) – that together count 308 screens in three territories and will be coordinated by Cologne-based video-on-demand and digital distribution experts Rushlake Media and independent consultant Jan Runge. Additional content and network partners are the Event Cinema Association (United Kingdom), Spielfabrique (Germany) and IMZ International Music + Media Centre (Austria).

Deluxe, MPS Partner on Electronic Delivery of Content to Cinemas

Motion Picture Solutions has sold a fifty-percent share of the Gofilex business to Deluxe. The sale unites Deluxe and MPS in a joint venture to provide world-class IP delivery through a single, sustainable electronic fulfillment platform. The parties’ said that their continued investment to drive innovation and network expansion will benefit both distributors and exhibitors

New York Indian Film Festival Begins June 4

The New York Indian Film Festival kicks off June 4-13 with 58 screenings and interactive discussions. Presented by the Indo-American Arts Council and powered by MovieSaints, NYIFF celebrates the 21st year of independent, art house, alternate cinema from India and brings this rich collection of films to audiences in the U.S. and North America. Some films will also stream globally.

Social Cinema Platform Kinema Launches

The social cinema platform Kinema has launched following a $2 million seed funding round backed by key investors, including Kindred Ventures, Lupa System, Galaxy Interactive and I2BF Global Ventures. According to the company, the Kinema platform expands the film marketing and distribution industry by enabling a social and immersive cinema experience. With the goal of eliminating ‘theater deserts’ and expanding access to engaging film, Kinema is building a world-wide network of screening hosts, filmmakers and filmgoers.

Liquid Media Announces Bid to Acquire IndieFlix

Liquid Media Group has signed a letter of intent to acquire IndieFlix, the subscription video-on-demand streaming service focused on content with a purpose.
