PVR Cinemas Installs 4DX Screens in Bengaluru and Mumbai
PVR Cinemas has opned its first CJ4DPlex 4DX auditoriums in PVR Market City, Bengaluru and in Mumbai at Phoenix Market City, Kurla. PVR Cinemas is the largest provider of 4DX in India with 11 theatres.
Les Cinémas Gaumont Pathé to Open 30 4DX Theatres
CJ 4DPlex has partnered with Les Cinémas Gaumont Pathé to open 30 4DX theatres in France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Belgium by 2020. The agreement, which includes plans to open six theatres by the end of this year, follows the opening of the first 4DX theatre in France at Pathé La Villette in Paris in March.
Fate Top 4DX Film of 2017
The Fate of the Furious is the most watched 4DX film of 2017, and is expected to surpass the 1.5 million-attendance mark. The box office success was driven by the best opening week performance in 4DX history, reaching 760,000 moviegoers – 31 percent more than the first week attendance for 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens (580,000) in 2015.
Guardians 2 Releases Worldwide in 4DX
Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, in the 4DX format, premiered first in Norway and France last month and continues its worldwide distribution at 369 4DX auditoriums in 47 countries including but not limited to the U.S., U.K., Canada, Mexico, South Korea, China and Japan.

Christie, Cameron Renew Technology Agreement
Christie has announced that James Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment has renewed an exclusive, five-year agreement with the company for sharing know-how and technology to propel the future of immersive cinema experiences. “To push the boundary of digital cinema, one needs visionary, like-minded collaborators and that description fits Christie to a tee, given its long cinema heritage and impressive list of industry ‘firsts’ in the projection and visual display realms,” said Cameron. “Several years ago we began our relationship, which has worked well, so I’m pleased to be forging ahead again with Christie at my side.”
