Eying 1958 Cinema Installs Barco 6P Laser Projector

Barco has announced the inauguration of the world’s largest single 6P laser theater, the Barco Laser Theater, built by the Eying Group in Chengdu, China. Located on the Eying 1958 Cinema’s landscape-style campus, the first of its kind in China, the largest-screen theater is lit by Barco’s new DP4K-60L, single projector 6P laser 3D system and is named after Barco.

China’s NAIP Relies on Quantum StorNext Storage

Quantum today announced that China's National Animation Industry Park in Tianjin, the country's largest animation center, is using Quantum StorNext shared storage as the foundation for its 4K post-production workflows. The animation park turned to Quantum when its legacy system was unable to handle the performance and capacity requirements of its new 4K projects, and the StorNext solution has enabled NAIP to increase the efficiency of its workflows by 60 to 80 percent.

Jiangye Technology Park Purchases 400 PipelineFX’s Qube! Licenses

In an effort to spur economic growth, China’s Jiangye District government has purchased 400 licenses of PipelineFX’s Qube! to manage the rendering needs of 100 companies currently residing in its new Jiangye Newtown Technology Park. This is a recently announced joint venture with Original Force that will provide renders, motion capture, color grading and 3D scanning to customers across the globe.

Wanda Cinema Begins Multi-Screen Installation of AAM Software

After entering into a long-term strategic partnership last month, Arts Alliance Media and Wanda Cinema have concluded a deal for all of Wanda’s sites in China to be powered by AAM cinema technology. AAM’s Lifeguard hardware monitoring system and Screenwriter Theatre Management System will be installed on over 1,500 screens initially, a footprint that will grow over the coming years as Wanda Cinema maintains its position as China’s largest circuit. The rollout of the software will begin immediately.

The Colors of American Dreams in China

American Dreams in China, director Peter Chan's first digital cinema effort, was shot on Arri Alexa and recorded on Codex. Chan’s strong affection for the filmic look determined how the film would be graded and finished in post. Colorist Antonio Zhang of the Chinese facility Post Production Office Group supervised the entire process.
