Funimation Entertainment announced today that its limited event-style theatrical release of the anime film Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F has shattered industry expectations – closing out its official run at $8 million in North American box office gross. Opening just nine days ago with a $1.97 Million opening night box office, Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F vaulted into the Top 10 list of highest grossing domestic anime films of all time.

Screenvision Renews Agreements with Five Exhibitors

Screenvision has renewed long-term agreements totaling 328 screens with five exhibitor partners including Flagship Cinemas, Paragon Theaters, UltraStar Cinemas, Empire Cinemas and The Birmingham Theatre. 

The deals average eight years and include the top DMAs of New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Washington DC, Phoenix and Detroit. They follow recently announced signed exhibitor contracts with Marcus Theatres, Reading International, Allen Theatres, B&B Theatres, Bow Tie Cinemas, Classic Cinemas, Malco Theatres and Regency Theatres earlier this year. 

Event Cinema in Europe to Reach $1 Billion in Annual Business by 2019, New Report Says

IHS Technology and Rentrak followed up their successful 2014 publication, Event Cinema in European Cinemas, with an update that it and the Event Cinema Association presented last month at CineEurope in Barcelona. Event cinema has experienced double-digit annual growth in Europe and the market should reach $1 billion in annual revenue by 2019, the report said.
