VFX Studio Milk Appoints Steve MacPherson CTO

The London-based visual effects studio Milk has appointed VFX industry veteran Steve MacPherson as chief technology officer. In the newly created role, MacPherson will be responsible for all of Milk’s technology strategy and operations including systems, pipeline, editorial and research and development, to support the studio as it takes on an expanding roster of premium film and episodic projects.

Access:VFX Launches European Chapter

Access:VFX an industry-led non-profit coalition of leading visual effects, animation and games studios, has launched its European chapter. With the help of new sponsorship from Netflix, the organization is building upon its mission to promote diversity within the VFX industry by expanding into Europe. The aim of the new chapter is to provide practical tools for up-and-coming creators across Europe that are essential to succeed in the industry, including mock interviews, reel reviews, virtual events, and e-mentorships.

RSP Delivers for The Boys

In its second outing with the wildly popular superhero drama The Boys, developed by Eric Kripke and based on the comic book by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, Rising Sun Pictures delivered more than 100 visual effects shots for the show’s eight-episode third season. The studio’s contributions included a jaw-dropping sequence that opens the first episode, depicting the spectacular, near total destruction of New York City.

Scanline VFX Takes on Stranger Things 4

From children of the 1980s to teenagers and everyone in between, the Netflix series Stranger Things has connected with audiences worldwide. The fourth season features superpowered showdowns, exploding helicopters and sinister vine attacks. These episodes presented Scanline VFX with many opportunities to create a number of new and exciting effects. “The visual effects work in previous seasons was stellar, but this season was more like nine blockbuster movies,” says Justin Mitchell, visual effects supervisor at Scanline VFX. “We were given some huge sequences and complex effects to work on across eight of the episodes.”

Loud Minds, Milk Partnering on Surviving Earth

Loud Minds has partnered with the award-winning visual effects studio Milk to create many of the effects on the newly commissioned eight-part NBC series, Surviving Earth. A co-production between UK Indie Loud Minds and Universal Television Alternative Studio, the documentary series promises an incredible journey into prehistory to learn the lessons from past mass extinctions. The Marvelous Ms. Marvel

For Marvel Studios’ latest episodic series, Ms. Marvel, the production faced an interesting, and somewhat rare challenge.
