32Ten Studios’ Practical Magic for Jurassic World

Universal Pictures’ record-breaking blockbuster Jurassic World features a number of practical shots that were designed, built, and filmed at 32Ten Studios in San Rafael, California. The most prominent were the gates that welcomed visitors to the prehistoric theme park Jurassic World. Those gates, which needed to appear massive on screen, were actually 19-foot set pieces built at 32Ten under the supervision of model maker Mark Anderson.

Rodeo FX Delivers Escape Sequence for Tomorrowland

Rodeo FX completed 50 visual effects shots for the latest Brad Bird movie, Tomorrowland, including digital matte painting, blue screen compositing, scene enhancements, CG effects and simulation, and a thrilling sequence in which the central characters escape in a rocket-propelled bathtub pod moments before their farmhouse explodes.

Method Demolishes Downtown LA in San Andreas

The action thriller San Andreas, now in theaters, is packed with catastrophic destruction, achieved in part through 247 complex visual effects shots executed by Method Studios facilities. As one of the main visual effects vendors on the film, Method was responsible for the entire downtown Los Angeles sequence, in which an earthquake decimates the city, and also contributed to the San Francisco sequence.

Filmworkers, Churchill Studios Stage Shark Attack for La Quinta

Man-eating sharks turn cuddly in a new campaign for La Quinta. Filmworkers and Churchill Studio provided the inspired computer generated magic for Swim in which a businessman is dropped into a dive tank filled with blood thirsty sea creatures. The campaign was conceived by DDB Chicago, and directed by David McNally of Company Films.

FuseFX Works Witchcraft on WGN America’s Salem

Burbank-headquartered FuseFX has been providing visual effects for Salem since the drama about witches in colonial Massachusetts made its debut last year as WGN America’s first original series. Currently in the midst of the show’s 13-episode second season, the studio’s team of artists is hard at work, helping to conjure a 17th century world riven with black magic, intrigue and strife. The series is produced by Fox 21 Television Studios.
