John Was a Good Man

The TEDx Sydney conference on April 26 will feature a breakthrough film by Kate Kazokas and Lucy Adelaide. Titled John Was A Good Man, the short film features actors from across Australia including Jane Caro, Dr Karl, Paul McDermott, Matt Moran, Andrew O’Keefe, Turia Pitt, Jessica Tovey, Urthboy and Fred Nile. Each of the participants tells a short eulogy of their lives to date, using the third person and with video images of themselves being projected onto their own faces to heighten the sense of self-analysis.

Autodesk Unveils Smoke 2015 with New Pricing at NAB 2014

Autodesk unveiled the latest version of Smoke 2015 earlier this month at the National Association of Broadcasters convention in Las Vegas. In addition to significant new creative tools andperformance enhancements, Smoke 2015 will soon be available as a Desktop Subscription, so customers can access the software on a pay-as-you-go basis for the first time.

Visualization house Proof provided extensive pre vis and post vis services to the new Marvel Entertainment motion picture Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Proof’s creative director/founder Ron Frankel made the announcement. The film was released by Walt Disney Studios last month and shows the benefits of using pre and post vis on a major effects-heavy film.

Devil & Demon to Debut “Super-computers for Everyone” at NAB2014

The Devil & Demon Strategy today announced the availability of what the company is calling super-computers for everyone. The new product line of Devil supercomputers and Demon workstations will be on display at the National Association of Broadcasters convention in Las Vegas next week. At the show Devil & Demon systems will be running a variety of software including Autodesk’s VRed simulator, Chaos Group’s VRay RT and Digital Vision’s Nucoda, as well as Survios’ VR game Zombies On The Holodeck.
