For The Marvels, the new superhero adventure from Marvel Studios, Rising Sun Pictures was tasked with creating a vast city on the planet Hala, home to the Kree Empire and its artificial intelligence ruler, the Supreme Intelligence. Artists created both a representation of the futuristic city at the height of its power, and as a devastated ruin. The studio also produced the film’s awe-inspiring opening and closing sequences showing the luminous implosion and miraculous rebirth of Hala’s sun.

Sailing a Computer-Generated World

Rising Sun Pictures delivered more than 170 visual effects shots for the first season of One Piece, the Netflix adventure series about the young pirate Monkey D. Luffy and his ragtag crew on a quest for treasure and glory. The studio’s work centered on the fantastical array of naval and pirate ships featured in the show, a live action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s immensely popular manga.

Animating Miss Minutes

Rising Sun Pictures was a key visual effects provider for season two of Loki, the hugely popular series from Marvel and Disney+. The studio’s primary role was to animate Miss Minutes, an artificial intelligence driven character in the form of an orange clock who appears throughout the series, spreading propaganda on behalf of the Time Variance Authority, the organization that monitors timelines in the multiverse. RSP worked under the supervision of Marvel visual effects supervisors Christopher Townsend and Sandra Balej and visual effects producer Allison Paul.

Making the VR Film Ajax All Powerful

Recreating the Uphaar Cinema Trial by Fire

FutureWorks helped to recreate Delhi’s Uphaar Cinema disaster for the recent Netflix drama Trial by Fire, delivering all previs images for the devastating fire scenes. The seven-part miniseries is a dramatization of the tragic events of June 13, 1997, where a fire caused by ill-maintained equipment during an afternoon screening of the war epic Border resulted in the deaths of 59 people, with a further 103 injured in the resulting stampede. Due to multiple safety violations, many cinema-goers were trapped inside, eventually succumbing to smoke inhalation.
