FuseFX Adds VFX Supervisor Ted Rae

Ted Rae, an Emmy and BAFTA nominated Visual Effects Supervisor whose credits span feature films, episodic television and commercials, has joined Los Angeles-based FuseFX. Rae is currently leading FuseFX visual effects teams for the CBS series Scorpion and the WB series Stalker. He is also assisting with several projects through FuseFX’s new Vancouver facility.

Jiangye Technology Park Purchases 400 PipelineFX’s Qube! Licenses

In an effort to spur economic growth, China’s Jiangye District government has purchased 400 licenses of PipelineFX’s Qube! to manage the rendering needs of 100 companies currently residing in its new Jiangye Newtown Technology Park. This is a recently announced joint venture with Original Force that will provide renders, motion capture, color grading and 3D scanning to customers across the globe.

Rodeo FX Recreates the War-Torn Pacific for Unbroken

Rodeo FX produced 240 stunning visual effects shots for Angelina Jolie’s World War II biopic Unbroken. Partnering again with Industrial Light & Magic, the Montreal-based VFX studio crafted photorealistic images, creating the breathtaking air combat between the B24s and the Zero fighter planes, among other spectacular sequences. Unbroken has been nominated for three Academy Awards, which will be handed out this Sunday.

The role of technology in the service of great storytelling continues to evolve, and this year's Academy Award nominees reflect the impressive artistry of the global computer graphics industry. From Best Pictures and VFX, to Best Cinematography, Animated Features and Shorts, Autodesk media and entertainment software played a supporting role in the creation of many of this year's most acclaimed movies. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences also recognized Autodesk technology with a Scientific and Technical Achievement Award.

Rising Sun Pictures Shares Oscar Nomination for X-Men: Days of Future Past

Rising Sun Pictures visual effects supervisor Tim Crosbie is part of the team nominated for an Academy Award for Best Achievement in Visual Effects for the film X-Men: Days of Future Past. Crosbie supervised the team of RSP artists involved in creating the film’s exuberant Kitchen scene where time appears to stand still as the speedy Quicksilver darts about the Pentagon cafeteria to foil guards attacking a group of mutants. Also named in the nomination are Richard Stammers, Lou Pecora and Cameron Waldbauer.
