Screenvision to Distribute The United States of Football

DigiNext, a joint venture between Digital Cinema Destinations and Nehst Media Enterprises, released The United States of Football on August 23. A nationwide release to the more than 120 member theatres in the Screenvision network will happen August 30 and September 6. It is the first film in DigiNext’s 2013-2014 slate of twelve features.

Christie to Install World’s First Commercial Digital Cinema Laser Projector in Seattle

The Seattle Cinerama Theatre, in Seattle, Washington has purchased the world’s first commercial digital laser projection system. Christie, who recently received the first US FDA approval of variance allowing the sale of laser projectors for use in a cinema, will install a 4K Christie digital laser projector, with scalable light output up to 60,000 lumens.

Program Set for Art House Convergence Regional Seminar August 22-23 in New York

The program has been set for the Art House Convergence’s first-ever regional seminar, Thursday and Friday August 22-23 at the Cinema Arts Centre in Huntington, New York. The seminar will cover topics from fundraising to repertory programming to digital cinema.

Enhancing the Horror of Alien Hunger

One solution to a common challenge of independent filmmaking is to use multiple cameras to ensure scene coverage – especially of action scenes – to ideally save time and money. Unfortunately, because camera manufacturer settings vary, the end result can be contrasting images depending on which camera is used. This was the case with the new action sci-fi thriller Alien Hunger. Producer Jack Tucker, and editor Nancy Brindley Bhagia, had concerns in how the “horror look” would be created in the film due to lighting issues within some of the footage.

Cinemark to Add Barco Auro 11.1 Sound to 150 Digital Cinema Screens

Cinemark has selected Barco to deploy its immersive cinema sound solution, Auro 11.1, in more than 150 premium Extreme Digital (XD) digital cinema screens worldwide. Cinemark will begin the worldwide deployment this year in all of its “tier one” markets, starting with North America.

More2Screen has been appointed by Hasbro Studios to distribute a new full-length feature that will introduce a whole new dimension to the hugely successful My Little Pony brand. My Little Pony Equestria Girls will be available dubbed in multiple languages and released in cinemas across Europe, and selected international territories, from August 1.
