Colorist Groups Partner on New Award

The Colorist Society International is joining the Independent Colourist Guild as partner and co-organizer of the newly launched Colorist Awards. The first-ever international competition focused exclusively on the craft of color, the event recognizes outstanding work by colorists across feature films, television, documentaries, commercials, music videos and shorts. Entries are being accepted now through December 31 for work first appearing in 2020. Winners will be announced in March.

The Colonie Creates a New State Farm Commercial from Home

With normal production not an option during the pandemic, at the request of advertising agency The Marketing Arm, the Chicago creative company The Colonie remotely edited, color graded and finished a live-action commercial for State Farm insurance. Its team rallied, pulling volumes of stock shots, user generated content in conjunction with Catch & Release and even augmented footage by filming their own families at home in scenarios that have become the new norm.

Realism Grounded in LA Locations

Inspired by Michael Connelly’s Harry Bosch novels, the Amazon Prime Video police-procedural series Bosch premiered its sixth season on April 17. The show has also been renewed for a seventh and final season, offering one last outing for the eponymous LAPD homicide detective. Cinematographer Patrick Cady, ASC has been behind the camera for roughly half of the show’s 60 episodes to date, going back to Season 1. From the beginning, Cady and his collaborators have sought to create a sense of realism grounded in the show’s Los Angeles locations.
