Vancouver Film School Graduates Worked on Oscar-Winning Movies
Vancouver Film School has announced that 82 Oscar winners out of 130 total nominees were VFS alumni who graduated from there and worked on Oscar winning projects. Winning projects for Best Visual Effects included 31 alumni for Avatar: The Way of Water and six alumni for Best Animated Film for Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio.
Nolan and Thomas to Receive NATO Spirit of the Industry Award
The National Association of Theatre Owners will honor Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas with the NATO Spirit of the Industry Award during this year’s CinemaCon. Mitch Neuhauser, managing director of CinemaCon, made the announcement.
SOC Presents Camera Operators of the Year Awards
Daniel Bishop, SOC, has received the Society of Camera Operators Camera Operator of the Year in film for his work on All Quiet on the Western Front. Dave Chameides, SOC, and B camera operator Cristian Trova won the Camera Operator of the Year award in television for Ozark, season 4, episode 14, A Hard Way to Go.

Iain Neil, chief optics advisor of Cooke Optics, has received the Gordon E. Sawyer Award for his "substantial, extensive and innovative lens designs which have had lasting impact in motion picture cinematography.”

The Motion Picture Sound Editors associated presented the 70th Annual MPSE Golden Reel Awards in a live ceremony held yesterday evening at the historic Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles. Recognizing outstanding achievement in sound editing, MPSE Golden Reel Awards were presented in 20 categories encompassing feature films, long-form and short-form television, animation, documentaries, games, and student work.

Cinéma Triomphe in Terrebonne, Quebec received the Best Use of New Technology Global Award from the International Cinema Technology Association for its XPX premium large format screen, XPX. The theatre offers a 56-foot-wide screen with 360-diffusion.
