Dolby Institute Emerging Filmmaker Winning Films Screened

The winning films in the Dolby Institute x Ghetto Film School Filmmaker Finish the Script Challenge were screened late last month in separate events in Los Angeles and New York. The winners are Alejandra Araujo of Jamaica, New York for Shipped Out; Eleanor Cho of Artesia, California for Dinner is Ready; Antonio Salume of Mexico City, Mexico, and Amy B. Tiong of Waterbury, Connecticut for Take Care Zora; and Christian Osagiede of Los Angeles, California for Hunted.

Roelink Winner of the 2022 UNIC Achievement Award

Géke Roelink, managing director of Filmhuis Den Haag, has been named the 2022 recipient of the UNIC Achievement Award, given each year in recognition of outstanding dedication and service to European cinema exhibition. The award will be presented as part of the CineEurope Awards Ceremony on Thursday 23 June at the Centre de Convencions Internacional de Barcelona in Barcelona, Spain.

FilmLight Color Awards Entries Open May 1

Following a hugely successful debut in 2021, preparations are already underway for the FilmLight Color Awards 2022. This year’s awards, which will again be presented at EnergaCamerImage in November, include a new category celebrating the work of colorists on lower budget, independent and international features. Colorists, production companies and facilities are invited to put forward their nominations when entries open on May 1, with a final deadline for submissions on July 31.

The GC4W Honors NYWIFT Executive Director Cynthia López

The Global Connections for Women Foundation honored New York Women in Film & Television executive director Cynthia López last weekend as one of its Top 100 Women in the World. In doing so, the foundation continued its tradition to recognize women’s accomplishments in exclusive settings that allow them to celebrate equity, diversity, and inclusion. This year’s theme was “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow.”

Zeiss, Women in Media Announce the Altitude Awards

Zeiss Cinema Americas and Women in Media celebrate Women’s History Month with the new Altitude Awards. These awards will honor the technical and artistic achievements of creatives who are making meaningful, well-crafted stories in the camera and lighting departments. The competition is open to professional and student WIM members working as cinematographers, camera operators and gaffers. First prize is $3000 cash and a full week's use of Zeiss Supreme Prime or Supreme Prime Radiance lenses.

MPSE Celebrates Award Winners at In-Person Reception

The Motion Picture Sound Editors association hosted a special in-person reception for winners in the 69th Annual MPSE Golden Reel Awards on March 26th at the Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles. Sound Editors honored for their work in feature films, long-form and short-form television, animation and documentaries were presented with gold GRA statuettes and joined with colleagues in celebrating their shared craft.
