MetaMedia today announced a significant strategic investment from Dimensional Associates, which the company says will drive the next phase of MetaMedia's mission to provide cinemas, movie studios and other content producers with a global, cloud-based entertainment network that delivers cost-savings, operational efficiencies, access to expanded content and additional revenue opportunities. The companies did not disclose the amount of the investment.

Continuing its ongoing expansion plans, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is opening its first Florida theatre, Alamo Drafthouse Naples. The Austin-based cinema-eatery will be taking over the space from Silverspot Cinema and plans to have the theatre fully converted and open to guests by early 2024. Updates to the theatre will include premium, reclining leather seats, a revamped bar experience, and a theme celebrating cinema’s greatest golf films.
Sphere Entertainment has unveiled Sphere Immersive Sound, powered by HoloPlot, which the company says is the world’s most advanced audio system. According to the company, HoloPlot provides individualized sound to every seat in Sphere, scheduled to open in Las Vegas this fall.

The Film Heritage Foundation has announced a special ceremony to present the inaugural lifetime achievement award for cinema projection "to honor film projectionists who have dedicated their lives to showcasing films on the big screen." Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, founder of FHF, said the Mumbai-based foundation will honor three projectionists at the event, to be held on Wednesday at the city's heritage Regal Cinema here. The foundation will screen Kamal Amrohi's 1949 classic Mahal on 35 mm vintage print to celebrate the analog-era legacy of cinema at Regal Cinema, a single-screen theatre.
Cinemark has announced that the weekend of July 21 is tracking to be the exhibitor’s best summer weekend box office of all time, as well as one of the highest grossing box office weekends in the company’s history.
Led by the films Barbie and Oppenheimer, this past weekend was expected to see more than $300 million in domestic box office revenue to become the fourth biggest earning weekend in U.S. history. The worldwide box office topped half a billion dollars. Barbie earned roughly $155 million while Oppenheimer grossed approximately $80 million.
Angel Studios’ independent summer hit, Sound of Freedom. has now sold more than 8.9 million tickets in its third week in release, and the film has now earned nearly $125 million in box office revenue.
